Eco Credentials

Although no business can claim to be 100% eco friendly, there is after all natural materials, energy, water and other aspects to manufacturing the materials themselves let alone the product. There is also the distribution and shipping, sometimes internationally

However with this in mind we decided to be as friendly to the environment as we could possibly be, therefore our materials and packaging is sourced with care, although other materials are involved (rubber or silicone ‘bumpons’ the feet used to protect your furniture and the neodymium magnets used to connect the pieces together) we try and use environmentally friendly material as much as we can, we therefore use mostly:

PLA, a bioplastic, as such not a ‘true’ plastic it is usually made from corn or maize starch and other rapidly replaceable crops. As a bioplastic it breaks down and decomposes when composted. It does mean PLA is not suitable for certain conditions such as outdoors, it is not dishwasher safe and can become pliable and soft under heat, often direct sunlight in a windowsill can cause this however if you take care our PLA products they will last many years

Pewter, we use – where possible – recycled pewter, this is the newer lead free pewter so does not cause any health or environmental issues

Jasmonite, a more environmentally friendly concrete/resin replacement, it is water based, solvent free and has no VOCs

Packaging:

We use no plastics in packaging, we use cardboard boxes, cardboard ‘bubblewrap’ and brown paper wrapping, where possible we use recycled paper and cardboards as well to further reduce the environmental cost
